ABOUT CELJ: Center for Elder Law & Justice (CELJ) is a civil legal services organization fighting for justice, primarily for low-income older adults, in 10 counties in Western New York. Our attorneys stop illegal evictions, save clients homes from foreclosure, put a stop to elder domestic violence, fight for public benefits, work with our local immigrant & refugee populations, and represent grandparents and other kinship care relatives in custody and neglect petitions in family court. We also advocate for systems-wide policy changes, commenting frequently on changes to regulations and working with local elected leaders on legislation that will impact the poor and vulnerable older adults in our area. We believe that independence and dignity are the hallmarks of justice.

JOB SUMMARY: Center for Elder Law & Justice is looking to fill a full-time Supervising Case Manager position to work within our Guardianship Unit. Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise Case Managers, including work assignment, case review, quality assurance, and performance oversight.

  • Ensure that all client visits occur at required intervals — no less than quarterly for clients in facilities and no less than monthly for community-based clients — and that visits are properly documented.

  • Review initial and ongoing needs assessments and person-centered service plans for completeness and quality.

  • Carry a caseload of guardianship clients, providing direct care coordination, including maintaining case notes in case management software.

  • Coordinate with the Supervising Attorney and Managing Attorney on complex cases and cases requiring legal intervention.

  • Serve as an escalation point for urgent client matters, including medical emergencies, placement changes, and safety concerns.

  • Answer time-sensitive calls during non-business hours and weekends.

  • Interact and communicate with health care providers and other service providers.

  • Support the preparation of the social work components of Article 81 reports.

  • Train and mentor case management staff.

  • Foster a team environment and interface with the Managing Attorney and Supervising Attorney to carry out program deliverables and grant reporting requirements.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work, or bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field with substantial relevant experience.

  • Experience in care coordination, case management, or care planning for older adults or adults with disabilities.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of long-term care, community-based services, public benefits, and healthcare systems.

  • Excellent assessment, documentation, and organizational skills.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the 8th Judicial District.

CELJ offers competitive benefits and compensation package, including:

  • Generous vacation and sick time

  • Employer covered health, dental & vision

  • Fourteen holidays a year, plus two half-day holidays

  • Summer hours between Memorial Day and Labor Day

  • Payment of license fees and association dues

  • Encouragement of professional development

  • Eligible for Federal Loan Forgiveness
