About CELJ:
Center for Elder Law & Justice (CELJ) is a civil legal services organization fighting for justice, primarily for low-income older adults, in 10 counties in Western New York. Our attorneys stop illegal evictions, save clients homes from foreclosure, put a stop to elder domestic violence, fight for public benefits, work with our local immigrant & refugee populations, and represent grandparents and other kinship care relatives in custody and neglect petitions in family court. We also advocate for systems-wide policy changes, commenting frequently on changes to regulations and working with local elected leaders on legislation that will impact the poor and vulnerable older adults in our area. We believe that independence and dignity are the hallmarks of justice.
Job Description:
Center for Elder Law & Justice is looking to fill a full-time position to work within our Lifespan Financial Management Unit.
Reporting to the social worker supervisor, program liaison will provide a range of support and administration to the Financial Management Program and its clients. This position is highly client-service based. The Financial Management Program helps older adults pay their bills and remain independent.
Essential Functions:
Handle high volume of inbound/outbound phone calls in a timely, professional manner.
Provide strong client service skills with the ability to explain and respond to questions about the Financial Management Program.
Exhibit strong professional communications skills to draft letters and emails to clients and other parties as needed.
Work very closely with other members of Lifespan team
Responsible for maintaining client files.
Promote the work of the office and practice.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain and manage all records, reports and statistics as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Networking with other CELJ programs to meet the needs of clients.
Requires client visits, which can include in-home, as needed program service areas
Requires reliable transportation
Outreach events
Other Duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum requirement AAS degree
1-5 years of client service or equivalent experience
Experience working with older adults, preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in Excel
Strong written and oral communication skills
Highly client-service focused
Working knowledge of community resources
Strong attention to detail, well organized and accurate
Basic math skills
